Niantic's Harry Potter AR game was installed by 6.5 million players during its first week, according to Sensor Tower data.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Niantic and WB Games launched Harry Potter: Wizards Unite one month ago tomorrow, and so far the latest IP-driven, location-based AR game on mobile has generated more than $12 million in global player spending according to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence estimates.

As the chart below shows, this makes Wizards Unite the second-largest launch in the genre by first month revenue, behind Niantic's own Pokémon GO, which grossed an estimated $300 million in its first month.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite First Month Revenue

Wizards Unite outperformed similar IP-based AR titles from Ludia, Next Games, and FourThirtyThree. Jurassic World Alive from Ludia generated approximately $10.3 million globally in its first 30 days, while The Walking Dead: Our World from Next Games saw first month spending of $3.9 million. Ghostbusters World from FourThirtyThree grossed $200,000 during its launch month.

In terms of downloads, Wizards Unite was also second only to Pokémon GO in its first month. It was installed more than 15 million times compared to 182 million for Niantic's previous title. Jurassic World Alive ranked No. 3 by this measure with 6.5 million downloads, followed by The Walking Dead: Our World and Ghostbusters World with 1.6 million and 1.2 million installs, respectively.

We'll have further updates on Wizards Unite's performance as it continues to roll out in additional markets.
